At Pinkys Purfect Paws we put your cat’s welfare at the forefront of our business. We aim to groom all cats in accordance with what is best for their needs, which we will discuss with you on the day prior to commencing any groom.

By booking an appointment you agree to the terms and conditions and are aware of any possible after effects such as skin irritation, sores, fleas, reddened skin, uncovered cysts, or skin problems following the procedure. These can happen after clipping a cat’s coat due to the skin not being able to fully breathe because of the matting. On this occasion, any personal requests initially asked for are unable to be carried out as I only have the welfare of your cat in mind and will only do what is best for the cat at this appointment. This will incur an increase in price as the wear and tear of the clippers will be taken into consideration.

Shaving a cat’s fur comes with a risk of change in fur, texture and colour upon regrowth or even failure to regrow. We recommend consulting your vet in these circumstances. Lastly, if your cat does develop any skin irritations following the clipping, any resulting fees are the responsibility of the cat owner.

If upon arrival at your house, your cat has more than 5% matting and more than 20 minutes of de-matting work, then your cats fur will be humanely clipped short, if we have assessed that this will be possible. If we are not willing to do this, then we will refer you to a vet. This is because the ‘Animal Welfare Act 2006’ states that ‘it is an offence to cause unnecessary stress or suffering to an animal which includes prolonged de-matting work, which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the cat’. At Pinkys Purfect Paws, we will only attempt to de-mat 5% of your cat as stated above such as a 50p piece size behind each ear, armpit and groin areas.

Matting can be prevented by daily grooming and I am more than happy to show you correct techniques to do this and set up a grooming programme for you, which you can either carry out yourself or have a professional carry out.
